Kareem Rizk is a Melbourne based artist and designer who has worked for Melbourne‘s No.1 selling newspaper, The Herald Sun, as well as the house and lifestyle publication, Home Magazine. He has also done work for various higher education institutions including Monash University, Chisholm Institute of TAFE and the Australian Video Art Archive. Other clients include Don't Panic Magazine (Australia) and Enox - Indoor displays (Brazil) for the promotion of printed and online creative magazines.
He has also worked on art exhibition promotions, band and music promotions, hospitality collateral, including menus, signage, posters, uniforms, t-shirts and advertisements. Other work has included identity and business collateral for various businesses, both small and large.
Kareem's work has been featured in numerous magazines and books including the Semi-Permanent Book 2007 - short listed from several hundred entrants (Sydney, Australia) Computer Arts Projects magazine - showcase 2007 (UK), Don’t Panic magazine - limited edition poster (Australia) and Desktop Magazine (Australia).
Kareem’s working techniques include collage, acrylic, oil pastel, pencil, solvent transfers and acrylic transfers. He creates highly textured and often multi-layered images, predominantly with a very nostalgic or vintage and weathered quality. His works can often be vibrant with color, while others display a very refined or minimal palette. His working methods also extend to digital collage with a very gritty and realistic display of texture and layering.
